It’s that time again when the WWE announce the nominees for the Slammy Awards where we crown winners, ranging from the superstar of the year to the ‘OMG’ shocking moment of the year.
The WWE have announced the categories for the 2015 Slammy Awards and the winners will be crowned next week; they will also hand fans the opportunity to vote for certain categories during Monday Night Raw next week, and the winners will be revealed throughout the show.
The results for the categories announced today will be revealed next week on WWE.com and the WWE Slammy Awards pre-show on the WWE Network. Here are who I think should be crowned the winners this year.

RIVALRY OF THE YEAR
Nominees: Roman Reigns vs. Bray Wyatt, The Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar, John Cena vs. Rusev, Team Bella vs. Team B.A.D vs. Team PCB and Randy Orton vs. Seth Rollins
It seems like the WWE have missed out some big rivalries this year, the Triple H vs. Sting was a fantastic feud as was the feud between Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose and we can’t forget the feud between Kevin Owens and John Cena.
With the choices we’ve been given, I believe the winner should be The Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar. The fact that this storyline dates back to before WrestleMania XXX is what made this story something we were all interested in.
We all wondered whether The Undertaker would get his revenge and he did at SummerSlam before their final ever encounter resulted in The Beast conquering The Deadman. The whole feud had emotion, and we were hooked on it ever since it started.
DOUBLE-CROSS OF THE YEAR
Nominees: Jon Stewart attacks John Cena, Randy Orton turns on The Authority, Paige attacks Charlotte and Becky Lynch, Stardust betrays Goldust and Damien Mizdow eliminated The Miz.
I’d say Jon Stewart attacking Cena deserves the award for this. I think the fact that a celebrity played such a massive role in an important, historic match in the WWE. We were going to crown our first ever WWE World Heavyweight and United States Champion, and here comes Stewart to throw a spanner in the works.
I think that had a lasting impact that we still talk about today and it’s something fans will fondly remember, as well as his reasoning for attacking Cena and helping Rollins.
SURPRISE RETURN OF THE YEAR
Nominees: Chris Jericho, The Dudley Boyz, Sting at Raw after SummerSlam, Alberto Del Rio and Demon Kane
This one is tough because some these nominees could realistically win the award as each was a surprise in their own way. I’d hand it to Sting, but the problem with Sting is that we always hear reports how Sting is in a certain city and is expected to work a certain event.
For this reason, I’d give it to Alberto Del Rio. He hasn’t had an extremely entertaining return but his actual return was very surprising considering the manner in which he left the WWE. Nobody expected Del Rio to return to face Cena, and he even dethroned Cena, which topped off a great return.
BEST ORIGINAL WWE NETWORK SHOW
Nominees: Breaking Ground, Table for 3, Stone Cold Podcast, WWE 24 and Swerved
Again this is another category where anybody could win, and they’d be deserving winners. They all bring entertaining whether it’s insightful knowledge into the business and how it works, how tough it is for up and comers to break through to the main roster or just pulling pranks on WWE talent.
I feel that the Stone Cold Podcast will take the award because of the amazing feedback it continues to receive, on a personal level I would have to say Breaking Ground. We never really see what goes on behind the see’s, and now we have the opportunity to see how and where our future main eventers start out.
TAG TEAM OF THE YEAR
Nominees: New Day, The Usos, Prime Time Players, Tyson Kidd and Cesaro and Lucha Dragons
Who knows what Tyson Kidd and Cesaro could have achieved if Kidd didn’t get injured, but is anybody else even going to bother arguing who should win this award?
It’s going to the New Day who have enjoyed an incredible year as a team. They’re still fresh, entertaining, and you can already imagine how they’ll accept their award. It’s pointless to even argue who else could prove to be competition.
HASHTAG OF THE YEAR
Nominees: #GiveDivasAChance, #SaveTheTables, #AxelMania, #RKOOUTTANOWHERE and #SuplexCity
It’s clear that social media plays a huge role with the WWE today, and each of these trending hashtags have been well-documented. I’d say the New Day will pick up another award with their #SaveTheTables hashtag.
They created something from nothing and made sure it played an integral part in their match-up with The Dudley Boyz. They took it a step further and even created a petition to save the tables that went viral, it will be tough to top that.
CELEBRITY MOMENT OF THE YEAR
Nominees: Stephen Amell dives onto Stardust, Cast of ‘Entourage’ introduces Zack Ryder, Kevin Owens attacks MGK, Jon Stewart attacks John Cena, and Wayne Rooney slaps King Barrett
Without voting for the same winner twice, I’d say Kevin Owens simply has to take this award. Machine Gun Kelly was a fantastic sport on the night as he performed for the fans but even ate a huge Powerbomb off the stage. It was a huge safety risk but one which helped Owens look like a menacing heel, and it worked perfectly.
“TELL ME YOU DIDN’T JUST SAY THAT” MOMENT OF THE YEAR
Nominees: Ambrose calls Rollins “Justin Bieber”, Rollins calls Johnny Manziel “Johnny Idiot Face”, Lesnar introduces “Suplex City”, “Kane was there too” and Paige spoils Charlotte’s title celebration
Brock Lesnar has to take this award when he introduced Suplex City for the very first time. No other quote had the same level of impact that did; we saw Vines, parodies, hashtags and even merchandise being creating from that one simple line.
It shows just how powerful the WWE can be, and it’s something fans still love today, and it’s something we still chant whenever Lesnar appears on television.
BEST JOHN CENA U.S OPEN CHALLENGE
Nominees: Cesaro II (July 6), Dolph Ziggler, Sami Zayn, Dean Ambrose and Neville
This has to go Sami Zayn because of the reaction it received. Sure, the Cesaro match was fantastic but we had Bret Hart introducing Zayn to his hometown crowd, it will be tough to top that. Unfortunately, Zayn was injured during his entrance but nonetheless it was a fantastic match and is often remembered as Cena’s greatest open challenge opponent to date.
SUPERSTAR OF THE YEAR
This is a category where you can vote for any superstar you want and for me it has to be Seth Rollins. Rollins has had a fantastic year where he cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase at WrestleMania and became the WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
He's seen off a number of threats from Sting to Lesnar, and it's unfortunate an injury cut short his title reign, let's hope The Authority are on hand to accept the award for him.
