English clubs have been put on high alert following news that Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola will announce plans regarding his future next week, with persistent rumours linking him to a Premier League move

Speaking after his team's 1-0 win over Darmstadt in the German Cup on Tuesday night, Guardiola was unable to provide an answer concerning his future but stressed he will have an answer in due course.

"Tonight, I have no answer", he began, according to the Telegraph, "next week there will be clarity."

The likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea will be hugely encouraged by the vague stance which the former Barcelona coach has taken. Perhaps we could see the legendary coach on English shores sooner rather than later.

Louis van Gaal, Manuel Pellegrini and particularly Jose Mourinho have all come under scrutiny this season with their sides somewhat under performing - and Guardiola is seen as the perfect candidate to reinvigorate the English giants.

Bayern, however, are enjoying one of their finest seasons to date, suffering only one defeat in their Bundesliga campaign thus far with Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Muller scoring goals for fun.

Guardiola's ambition has always been to secure his third Champions League crown with the Bavarians and may see this season as his best opportunity to do so.

However, the Spaniard may feel he has done all he can with this Bayern side and could seek pastures new in England's brutal top flight. He left Barcelona in a similar manner in 2012, after he felt he could do no more to improve the Spanish giants.

We will eagerly await his decision next week.
