AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli has taken to Instagram to hail former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.

The enigmatic forward, who previously worked under the guidance of the Portuguese tactician in Italy, has insisted that Mourinho is a great manager.

Mourinho, of course, was dismissed from his role at Chelsea on Thursday after a disastrous start to the Premier League season. After guiding the Blues to the title last season, the self-proclaimed 'Special One' failed to motivate his players during the opening few months of the campaign.

Incredibly, Chelsea are 20 points behind Premier League leaders Leicester City and are just one point above the relegation zone.

But Balotelli has offered his support to Mourinho with his latest post on Instagram. The man on loan from Liverpool stated: "Doesn't matter what you think or what you say. Josè is a great manager and he show it already many times with different teams."

What next?

There's probably a good chance that Mourinho will take some time out of the game. Naturally, a period of reflection and rest will surely be on the cards for the ex-Chelsea man.

One thing is for sure, though, he will return to the game at some stage. There will be a whole host of clubs ready to take a gamble on him.

At the end of the day, despite his recent problems, he remains one of the most desired and revered managers in world football. There's no reason why he won't be able to achieve great success once again.
