Jose Mourinho returned to Chelsea's training ground on Friday to say his final goodbyes after being sacked and was snubbed by some of the players, according to the Daily Mail.

The Portuguese boss was at the Cobham base and addressed the squad while his lawyers thrashed out the terms of his severance package. However, there were some players who opted against attending the meeting in one final snub to the former manager.

Differences between certain members of the squad and Mourinho were cited as the major reason for his departure and it has been reported that some were happy to see the 52-year-old get the boot on Thursday.

Owner Roman Abramovich was also at the training ground as he told the players he did not want to sack the Special One in a tense meeting.

The likes of Eden Hazard, Branislav Ivanovic, Oscar and Diego Costa have been well below par this season and many Chelsea fans believe the blame for the poor form should lie with the players and not the ex-manager.

And Mourinho blasted certain members of the squad as "mentally weak" in a damning final interview with Chelsea TV, saying they could not deal with the dramatic drop since last season.

There have been heartfelt messages from Cesar Azpilicueta, John Terry and Cesc Fabregas since Thursday, but the aforementioned stars have all remained silent on his departure.

Mourinho's agent has since confirmed the Portuguese will not be taking a sabbatical and will remain living in London as he looks for his next opportunity.
