Ronaldinho claims you can't compare Barcelona's brilliant trios

Brazil legend Ronaldinho has insisted that you can't compare two of the greatest trios in the history of Barcelona.

Of course, not too long ago, the stylish trio of Ronaldinho, Samuel Eto'o and Lionel Messi produced some scintillating football at Camp Nou, but these days it's Neymar, Luis Suarez and (still) Messi who are delighting crowds with their unbelievable talents.

The latter trio have been sensational throughout the course of 2015, helping Luis Enrique's side secure as many as five major trophies.

Unsurprisingly, Barcelona are recognised as the world's greatest team and, to many, Messi, Suarez and Neymar rank in the top four players on the planet.

But Ronaldinho, who formed a deadly partnership with Eto'o and Messi can't separate the trios, instead claiming that both have created history in their own era.

"Times have changed and you cannot really compare the two tridents. Everyone was very good during my time and they are great now," he stated via

"You cannot compare the two. Both attacking tridents made history in their own era."

All five players certainly have quite the scoring record in La Liga, as you can see by the following infographic:

Ronaldinho, Eto'o & Messi

It was magical to watch, wasn't it? The outrageously gifted Ronaldinho, Eto'o and Messi well and truly mesmerised fans week in, week out.

While Ronaldinho and Messi so often produced moments of genius on the field of play, Eto'o's eye for goal made him just as important to the cause.

Of course, back in 2006, under the guidance of Frank Rijkaard, Messi was starting to make a name for himself on the right wing, while Eto'o spearheaded the attack and Ronaldinho roamed free. Between them, they both created and scored a number of fine goals, but ultimately failed to win any major honours during a fairly short-lived period together.

The introduction of Thierry Henry changed the dynamic of the side, of course, but the aforementioned trio certainly produced some special moments on the pitch.

Suarez, Neymar & Messi

What hasn't already been said about this attacking force? Suarez, Neymar and Messi have been outstanding throughout the season and a half they've had together. Even the current Real Madrid attack of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema can't compete.

In fact, the current Barcelona trio are even more ruthless in front of goal than Ronaldinho, Eto'o and the Messi of old. Ronaldinho's right to an extent; both attacks have made history in their own era, but this one really could be the best of them all.

Between them, they netted 81 La Liga goals last season; that alone is a remarkable achievement. We certainly won't forget the bond Ronaldinho, Eto'o and Messi shared, but the latest Barcelona superstars really are something else.

And here's a little video treat of the five superstars in action:
