Gary Neville has experienced a mixed start to life as manager of Valencia, but that hasn't stopped him getting into the festive spirit over the Christmas break.

Via the Valencia Twitter account, the Manchester United legend opted to wish fans of the La Liga club a Merry Christmas.

But it didn't entirely go to plan for the former England right-back.

While opening a nice bottle of bubbly, Neville was in for a shock as the cork flew out from the bottle...

As you will see in the video below, it's pretty funny; Neville eventually went on to wish the Valencia faithful a Merry Christmas, but he may well take a different approach next year (if he's still in charge, of course).

Important couple of weeks

Let's be honest, the winter break probably isn't going to be a quiet one for Neville, who will no doubt be plotting and planning in pursuit of helping his side climb the table.

As mentioned, it has been a mixed start for the ex-Manchester United man, but he certainly has something to build on. After suffering defeat at the hands of Lyon in the Champions League, his side haven't lost in their last three outings.

However, after two consecutive draws in La Liga, Neville and Co. will be determined to start picking up maximum points. Currently sitting in ninth place in the division, momentum will be key in the new year.
