Louis van Gaal and Ryan Giggs watched on as Manchester United succumbed to their fourth consecutive defeat at the hands of Stoke City this afternoon.

The Red Devils were well beaten by Mark Hughes' side, who secured a comfortable 2-0 win on home soil.

After yet another dire United performance, Van Gaal's days in the dugout appear to be numbered.

Jose Mourinho, who was dismissed as manager of Chelsea late last week, has been heavily linked with the top job at Old Trafford, but it's far from certain as to whether the United hierarchy will replace Van Gaal with the Special One in the near future.

During today's encounter, Ryan Giggs' brother, Rhodri, opted to take to Twitter to tweet about Manchester United's reported managerial target.

As reported by the Mirror, Rhodri Giggs tweeted: "Mourinho to his driver 'start the car'," suggesting that the Portuguese tactician will arrive at the Theatre of Dreams sooner rather than later.

Mourinho in?

Should Mourinho replace Van Gaal? Well, if it's longevity that the United hierarchy crave, then the former Chelsea man is probably the wrong man.

But, despite his faults, Mourinho remains one of the most revered managers in the game. He would arrive in Manchester with a point to prove, so perhaps he really could help the Red Devils in their pursuit of success.

If Mourinho arrived, then where would that leave Giggs? The United hierarchy have a big decision to make.
