Emre Can has apologised to Alberto Moreno after accidentally kicking his Liverpool teammate in the head during the goal celebration against Leicester City on Boxing Day.

The Germany international jumped onto the back of goalscorer Christian Benteke but caught his Spanish teammate with his raised right boot.

One photographer captured the comical moment perfectly, and after the match Can took to Instagram to say sorry for his carelessness.

Liverpool’s win lifted them up to eighth place in the Premier League table while the fact it came over the league leaders, who had only lost once so far this season before the weekend, should give Jurgen Klopp’s side a huge confidence boost.

Perfect response after 3-0 defeat to Watford

This was the perfect response after the Reds’ humiliating 3-0 defeat at Watford last weekend and it’s a result that ends a four-match run without a win.

Liverpool are now nine points behind Leicester and still have a genuine chance of finishing the season inside the top four, despite the fact they have lost five matches already this term.

Next up for Klopp’s men is a trip to Sunderland on Wednesday night before a visit to West Ham’s Upton Park three days later.

In fact, Liverpool don’t play again at home until January 13 - against Arsenal in the Premier League - with away fixtures against Stoke City and Exeter City in the Capital One Cup and FA Cup, respectively, to play beforehand.
