Italy World Cup revelation Fabio Grosso admitted his mind went blank just before he converted a World Cup-winning spot-kick for the Azzurri.

Grosso´s strike secured a 5-3 penalty shoot-out win over France after Sunday night´s World Cup final in Berlin had finished 1-1 after extra-time.

"I can´t remember what went through my mind when I had to take the penalty," Grosso, who scored Italy´s first goal in the 2-0 semi-final win over Germany, told PA Sport. "It was a great moment for me and I can´t believe what has happened to me. It´s been a great World Cup for us and to win it is unbelievable."
