Chelsea asked their fans for their thoughts on the Man Utd game. That was a mistake

Chelsea's head of social media probably thought he was creating some unique, engaging content to connect with the club's fans.

That's all well and good, but maybe save the fan feedback for when your side are, y'know, winning. Or not near the relegation zone.

The west London club's fans were feeling even less charitable than usual this evening having watched the first 45 minutes of a dire encounter against Manchester United. For reasons known only to them, Chelsea then tweeted the following nine words. What a mistake.

"What are your thoughts on the game so far?" they posted. The backlash was pretty inevitable.

One of the first to respond wrote, in a matter-of-fact sort of way: "are you taking the p***"", and from there it was all downhill.

If you're easily offended, you may want to look away. Even if you're not, you may still want to consider it. Here's the best responses to Chelsea's well-meaning, but misguided question.

There's quite literally hundreds more if you really want to wade your way through them. We'd worry about your soul but hey, it's your call.

The silver lining to the pretty dark cloud was that they didn't ask the question at full-time. With both sides horribly out of form and scrapping for results it was perhaps unsurprising to see them play out a bore draw.

It did at least get a bit spicy towards the end as a few challenges went in, and Wayne Rooney in particular can count himself lucky to have not seed red.
