The big news this week is that The Rock has officially confirmed he will be at WrestleMania 32 in Dallas next year, and it has the WWE Universe buzzing.
For the last few months, fans have been wondering whether The Great One will be at WrestleMania, and now we just have to simply wait and see what sort of role he will be playing. The popular demand could see The Rock compete in a match, especially if the issue regarding the insurance has now been sorted.
The Rock is a huge draw – possibly the biggest in history – and a great way to sell the event is to have one of the greatest of all time at the event and in action, but who is the right opponent for him?

Right now, Triple H looks like the obvious choice because it’s a feud that has been teased for the best part of eight months.
The biggest indication that the two will face off took place at WrestleMania 31 when The Rock confronted Triple H and Stephanie McMahon before receiving assistance from Ronda Rousey.
It would be good to see a feud develop from there, and we aren’t left talking about a huge moment in history which didn’t advance or lead on to anything memorable. We know the history between The Rock and Triple H, and the WWE would look to incorporate the story of their careers to build this match effectively.
Roman Reigns is somebody who could be included in the build as The Game is likely to be taking on the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion and once he’s through with him, where better to go than taking on his legendary cousin?
Technically the feud did begin in 2014 when The Rock made a surprise appearance at the 15th anniversary episode of SmackDown. The two did mention that if they were to wrestle to see who the better man was it would be in front of 100,000 fans – the capacity of the AT&T Stadium.
Other than this, a mixed tag team match has also been rumoured with The Rock teaming up with Rousey to take on Triple H and Stephanie.
This is a match that has been rumoured for many years and perhaps 2016 will be the year we finally get to witnessed Rock vs. Brock II.
The only time the men faced off, Lesnar defeated The Rock for the WWE Undisputed Championship at SummerSlam as The Rock eased out of the WWE and ventured into Hollywood. It’s safe to say both men have been extremely successful since then.
Lesnar has achieved pretty much everything possible in the WWE, from defeating the biggest names to becoming WWE World Heavyweight Champion to conquering The Undertaker’s WrestleMania streak.
He also left the WWE over a decade ago to become a huge UFC draw – becoming the UFC Heavyweight Champion in the process.
The Rock has had a great career outside of the WWE as well. He’s a huge box office star, he came back and had two excellent matches with John Cena, but the one thing he hasn’t been able to do in his illustrious career is to defeat The Beast.
The story is there to tell, and it’s a fact that the fans will be invested in it. The Rock is a fantastic talker and, along with Paul Heyman, the two could sell the main event better than anyone, and we could finally see – after all these years - who the better man is.
The only issue that could stop this match from taking place is the risk of injury. We know how brutal Lesnar is inside the ring and with The Rock’s movie schedule the WWE will probably look to minimise the risks, but the reward is far greater.
OTHER TOP OPTIONS
I don’t believe the likes of Reigns or even Dolph Ziggler and Charlotte should be involved with The Rock at WrestleMania.
Having The Rock work with Reigns won’t do Reigns any favours if he’s going to continue developing as a face. With regards to the rumours with Ziggler and Charlotte, I highly doubt Rousey will return to the WWE this early especially since she was knocked out by Holly Holm not too long ago.
Bray Wyatt could be considered if he isn’t involved in any big plans as that’s another match that could draw some real interest.
They’re both fantastic on the microphone, and the fans would love to see The Rock fight through The Wyatt Family before meeting the final boss at WrestleMania.
The Undertaker is another who could be considered – but you have to think if the two of them could put on a long, entertaining match considering they will both suffer from ring rust by that time.
If not The Deadman, then the WWE should consider giving Rusev another push to the top and there’s no better place to start than by taking on The Rock at WrestleMania.
