With The Rock having sensationally announced his plans to appear at WrestleMania 32 on Instagram yesterday, it is safe to say the excitement surrounding the 2016 event has skyrocketed in the hours since.
However, hidden behind the wrestler-turned-Hollywood star's headline-grabbing news is an altogether more disappointing revelation from one of The Rock's fellow veteran Superstars.
That's after Chris Jericho, in low-key fashion via a reply to a fan on Twitter over the weekend, effectively confirmed his own status for The Grandest Stage of Them All.

Like The Rock, Jericho is also a part-time Superstar these days. Unlike the 'People's Champ', however, he will not be making an appearance at WrestleMania 32.
Here is the Twitter exchange that confirms the news, and likely bypassed all but the most eagle-eyed of WWE fans:
Just what the 'big announcement' is, WWE fans will have to wait and see. But, considering Jericho's ongoing commitments to his band 'Fozzy' it is probably safe to assume that a clash with tour gates could be scuppering the possibility of a 'Mania cameo.
Althogh fans will be disheartened to see one of the company's longest-serving stars rule himself out of the 2016 event, this week has brought more good news than bad.
With The Rock now locked in for some form of appearance, and John Cena returning on Raw (even hinting at a possible feud with Roman Reigns) there is renewed hope that WrestleMania 32 can indeed fulfil expectations.
The WWE want it to be a record-breaking show and, as such, hope to get as many big names on the card as possible. While Jericho's absense is a blow, The Rock's confirmation more than makes up for it.
