It was expected to be a low-key January for Liverpool in terms of signings, but it’s possible that at least three new players could sign for the Merseyside outfit in the New Year.
Marko Grujić could be on his way from Red Star Belgrade - before being loaned back to the Serbian outfit until the end of the season - Schalke defender Joel Matip could put pen to paper on a pre-contract agreement while Jurgen Klopp is also considering a £4 million bid for Leicester City’s highly-rated left-back Ben Chilwell.
This is according to the Telegraph, who understand Klopp is keen on the England Under-20 international who has also alerted both Manchester United and Arsenal in recent months.

But who is Ben Chilwell and should Liverpool fans be excited about his potential arrival?
The teenager is certainly a huge talent. Already regarded as a future England international, the gifted full-back is currently on loan from Premier League leaders Leicester at Huddersfield Town. He has made seven appearances for the Championship outfit this season.
Klopp is understood to be a close friend of David Wagner and has received “glowing reports” from the Huddersfield boss about Chilwell’s progress. Barry Hunter, Liverpool’s chief scout, has also watched the youngster closely on several occasions this season.
Liverpool may need to pay more than £4m
In order to secure his services, though, Liverpool may need to pay more than £4 million.
Arsenal had a £3.5 million bid rejected for Chilwell in the summer and it seems very unlikely that Leicester, who may recall the teenager next month after an injury to Jeffrey Schlupp, would now accept a bid worth an additional £500,000.
Chilwell himself may also have doubts about joining Liverpool, where he would find himself as the club’s second-choice left-back behind Alberto Moreno.
He would then run the risk of falling further down the pecking order at Anfield once Joe Gomez, who is out for he season after rupturing a cruciate knee ligament, returns to action.
