"If X happens, I will do something completely insane," we've all seen these people on Twitter before.

Many social media users could have been forgiven for thinking this 'craze' had died off, however, it appears to still be going strong. Well, kind of.

One Manchester United fan called Seamus Bannon was so incensed by the Red Devils' 2-0 defeat at Stoke City on Boxing Day that he could see no way back for Louis van Gaal.

In fact, he was so sure the Dutchman would be given his marching orders that he pledged to drink his own urine if Van Gaal was still in charge against Chelsea.

Well, as it turns out, Manchester United's board opted against a knee-jerk reaction and the 64-year-old took his place in the Old Trafford dugout.

And true to his word, under the watchful eye of his Liverpool supporting friend Brian, Seamus drank his own bodily fluid.

Given the tweet only got 30 likes, the question has to be asked: why didn't he just delete it? Honestly, Seamus, nobody would have judged you. In fact, it would be a surprise if anybody even noticed.

But in the weird and 'wonderful' world of the internet, anything goes.

Van Gaal's future is still up in the air following the 0-0 draw with Chelsea. Jose Mourinho's name continues to crop up, but the latest report from the Sun claims Diego Simeone is favourite with the players.

Whatever happens, we'd advise against any hopeful fans making rash decisions on social media.
