The Premier League transfer window opens on January 2 and Manchester United are expected to be busy following the worst December in the club's 138-year history.

Eight games without a win have seen the Red Devils slide down the table and they now sit five points behind Tottenham Hotspur in fourth place.

Despite their alarming form, reports claim Louis van Gaal will be given a large sum of money in the hope he can revive their flailing season.

Various different news outlets are claiming United's first deal of the window will be for Lazio's Brazilian midfielder, Felipe Anderson.

The 22-year-old has been with the Serie A outfit since a €7.8 million transfer from Santos in the summer of 2013.

Since arriving at the Stadio Olimpico, Anderson has made 76 appearances in all competitions, scoring 17 goals in the process.

His technique and speed have made him one of the most feared attacking midfielders in Italy and his form for the Biancocelesti earnt him his only Brazil cap to date - coming on as a substitute in a friendly with Mexico.

Manchester United have been severely lacking creativity this season and that is something Anderson possesses in abundance. So here are some videos showing exactly what he can bring to Old Trafford.

The Sun had reported Manchester United would have to fork out £35 million to land their man.

A quite extortionate fee, but the sort of price you come to expect from a transfer involving the Red Devils.

Although, Goal claim the Brazilian's release clause stands at £25 million.
