Terry and Lampard recently reunited at the latter’s wedding, so this could be one reason why JT is missing his old mate so much.

The fact today was Chelsea’s first training session of the New Year probably didn’t help, either.

Chelsea face a battle to save their season

Terry might feel that Lampard could still do a job for Chelsea, who currently sit 14th in the Premier League table.

There’s a possibility, if they suffer defeat to Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday afternoon, that the Blues will finish the weekend inside the bottom three.

However, new boss Guus Hiddink will take heart from last Monday’s 0-0 draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Chelsea forced United goalkeeper David de Gea to make several good saves - including one from Terry - and perhaps could have won the match had Nemanja Matic not missed his one-on-one.
