Manchester United supporters hoping Louis van Gaal will be sacked and replaced by Jose Mourinho over the next couple of weeks are about to be left bitterly disappointed.
This is according to BT Sport pundit Jason McAteer, speaking ahead of Liverpool’s Premier League clash against West Ham on Saturday afternoon, who revealed that former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has informed him where Mourinho is headed to after he was sacked by Chelsea last month.
Mourinho has been strongly linked with United and Real Madrid in recent weeks - but McAteer has been told the revered Portuguese coach is heading back to the Bernabeu. (Scroll down this page to watch the video).

“I was with Calderon,” McAteer revealed on Fletch and Sav, before adding: “He has said: 100 per cent, Mourinho is going back to Madrid.”
Michael Owen, who used to play with Real Madrid, then reacted by saying: “It’s not his call, though, is it?”
“I hope he’s right,” McAteer added. “I know it’s not his call but he’ll know, won’t he?”
Steve Mcmanaman, another ex-Real Madrid player, then added: “I wouldn’t have thought so. He says a lot of things.”
Calderon is convinced Mourinho is off to Madrid
McManaman hits the nail on the end with that closing comment. Calderon has developed a habit of making statements - sometimes outlandish - about his former employers to the press since leaving the club in 2009.
And this isn’t the first time since Chelsea fired Mourinho that Calderon has confidently stated his belief that the 52-year-old will succeed the under-fire Rafael Benitez as the new manager of Real Madrid.
Mourinho likely to join Real Madrid or United
It was reported last week, by the Sunday Times, that Mourinho had been offered the Real Madrid job but is waiting to see whether or not Manchester United will sack Van Gaal before accepting or rejecting Florentino Perez’s tempting invitation.
Van Gaal bought himself some time with last Monday’s 0-0 draw against Chelsea but could find himself out of a job if United are beaten by Swansea City at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
