Manchester United may prefer Giggs to replace LVG, not Mourinho

Real Madrid attracted criticism from the world of football yesterday when they sacked Rafael Benitez in favour of the very green Zinedine Zidane, but reports suggest that Manchester United could soon follow suit. The Daily Mail speculate that if Louis van Gaal leaves, Ryan Giggs, and not Jose Mourinho, could be appointed as his replacement. At the moment Van Gaal has the support of Ed Woodward and the board, but his popularity with fans has dramatically waned. Who would you have? Be sure to let us know in the comments box. Elsewhere, Chris Smalling has admitted that he’s kept motivated by the possibility of always being replaced. The England international insisted much and more could happen in any given transfer window at Old Trafford - safe to say he probably won’t be going anywhere though.
