WARNING - SPOILERS AHEAD!!! - This week's SmackDown tapings in Laredo, Texas may have revealed which mid-card superstar could be next in line to have a United States Championship.
According to reports by Wrestling Inc, Kalisto had a non-title match with United States Champion Alberto Del Rio, after the Mexican denied former champion John Cena his rematch at the opening of the show.
The high-flying member of The Lucha Dragons defeated The Mexican Aristocrat in what was a great match, which, abiding by WWE rules, gives him the right to have a title shot in the near future, perhaps before WrestleMania.

Del Rio is currently involved in a feud with Cena, who is looking to reclaim the title which he lost at Hell in a Cell last year before he departed the WWE for several weeks.
Several rumors have linked Cena with a feud with WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns from around WrestleMania season and beyond, so it is likely he will lose his rematch for the United States Championship when it takes place. Therefore, the WWE may have been testing the water for a Kalisto-Del Rio feud in the next few months.
The WWE has been needing of a high-quality Latino feud since Rey Mysterio was part of the company, and Kalisto's high-flying wrestling style against Del Rio's arrogance would be perfect to fill that void entering WrestleMania season.
Rumor had it that The Lucha Dragons were scheduled for a push for the WWE Tag Team titles before Sin Cara injured his shoulder.
Now he is expected to be sidelined for some time, Kalisto's talents, as demonstrated in the TLC match at the corresponding pay-per-view last month, need to be utilized, and a feud against Del Rio would be perfect. Putting the United States Championship in the mix as well will add more appeal to the clash, and it will make it even more enjoyable for the WWE Universe.
A Del Rio-Kalisto feud is what the WWE needs in order to attract more Latino viewers to their programming, and it's an opportunity that can't be missed, especially if the match they put on this week on SmackDown was truly a great one. We'll have to tune into the show later this week to find out for ourselves.
