Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy is being monitored by the Premier League trio of Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea.

This has been reported by Sky Sports, who claim that England's big boys could move for the England international in the January transfer window.

Vardy has been one of the standout players of the season with 15 goals in 20 league appearances. In fact, the 28-year-old is alongside Everton frontman Romelu Lukaku as the leading scorer in the division.

It's extremely unlikely that Claudio Ranieri will want to lose his talisman this month, but that may not put off the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea.

Both United and Chelsea have underperformed throughout the course of the campaign and are in need of freshening things up over the coming weeks.

Attacking problems

Under Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford, the Red Devils have failed to produce the goods in attack. Energetic youngster Anthony Martial looks set for stardom, but he's still not the finished article while the likes of Wayne Rooney and Memphis Depay have failed to contribute on a consistent basis.

Chelsea, on the other hand, are also lacking firepower; Diego Costa has been better recently, but he's a shadow of his former self. Loic Remy and Radamel Falcao have also struggled for different reasons.

There's also Manchester City, of course; Manuel Pellegrini's side are yet to really hit the heights expected of them, so the addition of Vardy would change the dynamic of the squad. Sergio Aguero may well be recognised as the best striker in the division, but he just can't stay fit on a consistent basis.

If Vardy becomes available, then it looks set to be an intriguing fight for his signature.
