The Daily Star has caused quite a stir on Friday morning after their chief sports writer, Jeremy Cross, made the sensational claim that Manchester United were considering a £65million bid for Chelsea star Eden Hazard.
Hazard has been strongly linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge at the end of the season with a number of reports claiming he has grown tired of life in the Premier League.
Real Madrid are believed to be the frontrunners while Paris Saint-Germain have held a long-term interest but a transfer saga would not feel right unless Manchester United stuck their noses in.

Ed Woodward has been desperate to make a big signing ever since taking over from David Gill in 2013. The closest he's come is Angel di Maria and we all know how that turned out. Now, he has his sights on Gareth Bale, but if Real Madrid continue to turn their advances down, Hazard is seen as a viable alternative.
And Old Trafford source told Cross: “The club has to be realistic and realise that signing Gareth Bale or Cristiano Ronaldo remains a long shot, which means alternative targets come into the equation. Eden Hazard is certainly one of those and the type of player United need if they want to start winning trophies again.”
Unsurprisingly, fans have been quick to share their opinion on Twitter, but many of them do not seem to be happy with the idea of their club spending a British record fee on a man who is clearly struggling with Premier League life.
Indeed, Hazard has failed to score for Chelsea this season and has had to take widespread criticism for his perceived lack of effort on the pitch. If he is unhappy at Chelsea then he is surely unhappy in England, meaning a move to Manchester United is unlikely to cure his ills.
However, it would be more of a surprise of the Red Devils did not at least consider signing a man who just last season won both the PFA and FWA Player of the Year award.
