Four episodes were taped this week by the NXT stars, featuring some big names ranging from Sami Zayn, Finn Balor and Bayley.
The episodes will air from January 13 through to February 3, with another set of tapings taking place on the Royal Rumble weekend as the build continues to NXT TakeOver: Dallas.
The big news this week surrounded the potential arrivals of some big NJPW stars such as Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows, however, there was no sign of them as of yet on NXT, but that could change in the coming weeks or months.

The NXT format sees them tape three or four shows in one evening, so they can go on the tours for the remainder of the time. The tapes episodes are then aired on a weekly basis on the WWE Network, so if you wish to avoid the spoilers for the episode airing on January 27, please turn back now.
The episode kicks off with tag team action as Blake and Murphy take on the incredibly popular team of Jason Jordan and Chad Gable. We find out that Gable and Jordan finally have a new team name, they will now go by the name of American Alpha as they build towards a big tag team push.
Murphy faked a leg injury during the match to get Gable to back off, but that distraction didn’t pay off as Jordan and Gable picked up the win with the assisted German suplex.
Jordan and Gable had a great second half of 2015, and their popularity has now gone through the roof. You could argue they’re probably the most popular team on NXT now, and a couple more impressive wins should see them challenge Dash and Dawson for the championship titles at TakeOver: Dallas.
As always there are a few matches that take place to showcase the dominance of a superstar, show a dominating return or just make up time before the main event.
First, Nia Jax picked up a dominating win over Liv Morgan with Eva Marie at ringside. Carmella is set for an NXT Women’s Championship match on an episode of NXT so it remains to be seen whether Eva Marie or Nia Jax will receive another title opportunity.
Alex Riley made his return to NXT by defeating Bull Dempsey with an aggressive display before Elias Samson racked up another win this time over John Skyler.
ZAYN VS. CORBIN VS. JOE
Main event time where either Sami Zayn, Baron Corbin or Samoa Joe was going to be crowned the new number one contender to Finn Balor’s NXT Championship.
The match ended in entertaining yet confusing fashion, though; the triple threat ended when Zayn had a Sharpshooter locked on in Corbin but at the same time, Joe had Corbin in a Crossface.
Corbin had no choice but to tap, but nobody knew which submission move was the one he submitted to, not even General Manager William Regal as he came out but was unable to give an answer on the winner of the match.
