Borussia Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel has slammed Manchester United youngster Adnan Januzaj after his loan spell at the Bundesliga club was cut short.

The Belgian moved to the Westfalenstadion in August, despite making four appearances for the Red Devils at the start of the season.

However, his spell with BVB was nothing short of a disaster as he made just three starts in 12 appearances in all competitions.

It was decided it was in both clubs' best interests for Januzaj to return to Old Trafford and Louis van Gaal has already challenged the six-cap Belgium international to prove himself at the Theatre of Dreams.

Following the termination of his loan, Tuchel gave his thoughts on why he believed it did not work out for the 20-year-old.

The former Mainz boss told Sportbild: "It is a pity he did not show the desire and attitude you need to progress at his age.

"My feeling was that he never was completely with us, that a part of him always stayed in Manchester and he compared everything here with United.

"We were not able to help him to shake that off."

Prior to those words from Tuchel, Van Gaal insisted he believes in Januzaj's abilities, but will be hoping his trust isn't misplaced.

Having burst onto the scene under David Moyes, his career has hit a stumbling block. There is no doubting his individual skill but the questions over his attitude continue to surface.
