The 2015 Ballon d’Or ceremony takes place on Monday and the three finalists for the men’s award - Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Neymar - have all posted on social media ahead of the glitzy ceremony in Zurich.

Messi is the overwhelming favourite to win the prestigious individual accolade, followed by his Barcelona teammate Neymar and then Real Madrid star Ronaldo.

Messi, sitting on the plane next to his partner Antonella Roccuzzo, is all smiles in his photo. The smile of a man who knows he’s about to win the Ballon d’Or for a record-breaking fifth time, perhaps.

Compare Messi’s facial expression to that of Ronaldo who, it must be said, looks pretty moody in his photo.

Ronaldo could finish in third place...

One suspects that Ronaldo, the current holder of the Ballon d’Or, will feel more than a little perturbed if he is pipped to second place by Neymar after scoring 57 goals over the course of 2015.

The fact both Neymar and Messi helped Barcelona win another treble last season, however, is expected to lead to more votes for the South American superstars.
