Fresh from securing his fifth Ballon d'Or, Lionel Messi has done the obvious thing: he has taken a selfie.

Fear not, this selfie is like no other; this is one only the world's best player can take...

The technically gifted Barcelona star is recognised by so many as the greatest player to have ever played the game - Cristiano Ronaldo's opinion is probably of the contrary - and he has produced quite the Facebook post for his 82 million plus followers.

Indeed, the Argentine magician has released a photo of himself using his latest award as a mirror.

That's right, as you can see in his Facebook post below, Messi has used his gleaming prize to take the perfect selfie. Well, we think it's perfect anyway.

There could be no stopping Messi

The notion that Messi and Ronaldo will soon be taken over as the world's greatest players has long been debated but is that really likely?

No, no it is not. Yes, Brazilian ace Neymar is a brilliantly talented footballer, but he is nowhere near the level of his Barcelona teammate. At this stage, Ronaldo and Messi are still way out on their own.

It's easy to forget that Messi is only 28-years-old; he still has so much more to give and will most definitely add to his Ballon d'Or collection over the coming years.

Do you agree? Can anyone rival Messi and Ronaldo over the next couple of years? Have your say below!
