Daniel Bryan has had a rough couple of years as a WWE Superstar.
At one stage he was the WWE World Heavyweight Champion before vacating it due to injury and then repeating the same process the following year with the Intercontinental Championship.
Both times he wasn’t defeated for the championship gold and, since then, fans have been waiting for the day Bryan will finally make his in-ring return to the WWE.

In recent months, fans started to believe that Bryan could be a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble before being involved in a blockbuster match at WrestleMania.
However, judging by the latest reports by The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, that doesn’t seem to be the case.
WILL HE EVER RETURN?
A lot has been speculated surrounding Bryan’s status in the WWE, and it comes as no secret that the company and Bryan have been at odds regarding his ability to wrestle in the ring due to potential injury scares.
For months, both parties have been locked in a stalemate, and the endless debate has sparked rumours that either Bryan will return at the Rumble, he’ll retire, or the WWE will release him from his contract.
Earlier this week, the big rumour doing the rounds on the dirt sheets was that the WWE would be releasing Bryan from his contract, this would have allowed him to compete for other promotions, such as Ring of Honor.
NO FUTURE PLANS
With that rumour quickly squashed, this means the WWE are keeping Bryan on their books and will allow his contract to expire, and it looks as if that’s how the situation will remain for Bryan until the contract does expire.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter are claiming that the WWE aren’t looking to bring Bryan back for a particular date and they don’t have any Royal Rumble plans for him.
But the bigger blow for Bryan fans is that he isn’t expected to be involved in any match at WrestleMania 32.
The current issue is that Dr. Joseph Maroon – a WWE doctor – isn’t clearing Bryan to return to in-ring competition. Vince McManon will only give his approval when Dr. Maroon clears him, but that doesn’t look like it will happen anytime soon.
This will obviously be a very tough situation for Bryan, who can do nothing more than train and wait around for his contract to expire. He’s already called the WWE out on his official Twitter account to clear him to compete.
With the potential arrival of AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura and more, Bryan will obviously be eager to get back into the ring and help put on some fantastic matches.
Unfortunately, it looks as if fans will have a really long wait before that comes to fruition.
