Morgan Schneiderlin fires warning message to Liverpool players

Manchester United take on fierce rivals Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday - and one man who’ll be hoping to make a big impact is French midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin.

The 26-year-old, who cost a reported £24 million to sign from Southampton last summer, is yet to make a significant mark on Louis van Gaal’s team.

But Man United’s number 28 is in bullish mood ahead of the visit to Merseyside, and has warned three specific Liverpool players on Twitter to be wary.

“Can't wait 4 the derby on Sunday!@mamadousakho3 @Nathaniel_Clyne #Lallana,” Schneiderlin tweeted, before adding: “we are coming for you ... #MUFC”

Schneiderlin, of course, knows Nathaniel Clyne and Adam Lallana well from their time working together at Southampton while Mamadou Sakho is a fellow France international.

Liverpool head into the match as narrow favourites

None of the trio have replied to Schneiderlin’s goading tweet; presumably they’re all focused and working hard ahead of the derby.

Liverpool, as hosts, head into the match as the narrow favourites. Klopp will hope his side enter the match in confident mood after scoring a last-gasp equaliser at the end of Wednesday night’s thrilling 3-3 draw against Arsenal.

Van Gaal can't afford another defeat

United, meanwhile, come into this weekend’s fixture off the back of Tuesday’s 3-3 draw with Newcastle - a match which ended with Paul Dummett rescuing a point for the hosts in stoppage time.

Victory for Liverpool would put them level on points with sixth-placed United - and heap additional pressure on the under-fire Van Gaal - but Schneiderlin is keen to ensure that potential outcome is avoided.
