Football News

Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini endured a pretty poor match in the 3-3 draw against Newcastle on Tuesday night.

Quite how he managed to remain on the pitch for 90 minutes is still, several days later, a mystery. The Belgian could have had no complaints had Louis van Gaal subbed him, while he did surprisingly well to avoid a second yellow card.

The Manchester Evening News handed him a 5/10 rating which, when you see the funny highlights video uploaded to Facebook by a United fan, seems extremely generous.

The video, which has been viewed over half a million times, cuts to a funny clip every time Fellaini does something bad - and the fact the video is two-and-a-half minutes long tells you everything about the 28-year-old’s display.

Fellaini had golden opportunity to put the game beyond doubt with a second-half header but fluffed his lines. Paul Dummett then popped up with a 90th-minute equaliser as Van Gaal’s men threw away two precious points.

Fellaini can make amends v Liverpool

Fellaini will have a chance to make amends when United take on fierce rivals Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

But failure to shine and the knives will be out once more for the former Everton star who has struggled to produce his best form since arriving at Old Trafford back in 2013.
