Football News

It appears that documents have been leaked to show just how much talented youngster Anthony Martial cost Manchester United in the summer, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Martial, 20, departed French outfit Monaco in favour of a move to Old Trafford and has quickly established himself as a key man under the guidance of Louis van Gaal.

However, in the aftermath of the transfer, the Manchester United hierarchy were criticised for spending so much money on an unproven, yet highly rated player.

It has long been suggested that United splashed £36 million on Martial while numerous reports have claimed that the Red Devils will have to pay Monaco even more money if the player wins the Ballon d'Or.

Now, then, thanks to a file which first appeared on Football Leaks, it appears that the true extent of the deal has been revealed.

Document information

Here's what it shows:

The document shows that Manchester United will pay Monaco €50million across two instalments. After initially paying Monaco €20m for the youngster, the Red Devils will send the French outfit another €30m at the end of the season.

United will have to pay Monaco a further €10m if Martial scores 25 goals in competitive matches while they will also have to pay €10m if he plays 25 times for the French national team and again if he is nominated for the Ballon d'Or.

Ultimately, then, Martial could cost Manchester United a huge sum if he continues to prove his credentials at the club.
