Liverpool may well have secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over League Two outfit Exeter City on Wednesday night but Belgium international Christian Benteke flattered to deceive at times during proceedings.

Failing to really stamp his mark on the game, the striker, who signed for the club in a big-money deal from Aston Villa in the summer transfer window, struggled to produce the goods in front of goal.

The notion that Benteke failed to contribute, however, is most definitely unfair: the towering forward played an important role, producing a wonderful assist for Portuguese youngster Joao Carlos Teixeira.

Ultimately, though, it's goals from Benteke that the Liverpool faithful are really hoping to see. Far too often against Exeter, Benteke failed to break speed to get into the box - his movement just wasn't good enough.

The player's long-term future on Merseyside has long been debated and it's clear for all to see that he must up his game if he's going to become a key man for the Reds.

Understandably, then, following yet another indifferent night for Benteke, the Liverpool faithful were relatively split when discussing the Belgian ace.
