Daniel Bryan will not have a WWE medical later this week

The WWE Universe was very hopeful earlier this week when news broke that Daniel Bryan would be travelling to Pittsburgh later in the week.

This is because the WWE's Head of Wellness testing Dr Joseph Maroon is based there. Put two and two together, and WWE fans became hopeful there would be further developments on his injury saga, perhaps even that Bryan might be cleared for a return to in-ring action.

However, recent reports have dismissed this rumor entirely, much to the disappointment of fans of the YES! Movement.

Dave Meltzer noted on The Wrestling Observer forums, according to Wrestling Inc, that the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion was just in Pittsburgh for a scheduled appearance at the World of Wheels auto show, not with Maroon.

He said: "He's in and out, no appointment with Maroon."

Initial reports had only suggested Bryan could visit Maroon because he is based in the same city he was visiting. Therefore, one could have hoped he would see WWE's Head of Wellness testing while he was there but this appears to not be the case.

We can pretty much rule out any surprise return for the Royal Rumble as well, as the WWE fan favorite has been out of action since last April, and the WWE is still reluctant to clear him due to his history with concussions.

The WWE obviously still feels it's too much of a gamble to bring Bryan back to the ring, so fans will have to wait a little bit longer for his return.
