Liverpool’s quest for improvement this month has taken a new turn, with the club said to have made an official bid for Chelsea target Alex Teixeira. The Times are saying that the Reds have lodged a €32million bid for the Shakhtar Donetsk star, with chief executive Ian Ayre having flown to Florida to try and strike a deal with the player at his club’s warm-weather training camp. Meanwhile, Liverpool appear to have found a new cult hero in the enigmatic Jurgen Klopp, but Anfield legend Steven Gerrard doesn’t want to pass judgement on the German either way just yet. The former Liverpool skipper has said Klopp needs to be given time with the Reds before he’s hailed as either a success or a failure, urging fans to be patient with their reactions.
