As a member of the Arsenal 'Invincibles' and a three-time winner of the Premier League, Gael Clichy has played alongside some of the Premier League's greatest players.

It was, therefore, no surprise to see the Frenchman name Joe Hart, Patrick Vieira, Dennis Bergkamp and Thierry Henry in his five-a-side team, for the best players he has played with.

However, at the back Clichy sprang one hell of a surprise.

Amongst those overlooked were: two-time Premier League champion, winner of 73 England caps and defensive rock Sol Campbell, Manchester City right-back and crucial member of their two title-winning campaigns Pablo Zabaleta and Vincent Kompany, widely regarded as one of the best defenders of his generation.

Even Ashley Cole, despite being Clichy's old rival for the Arsenal left-back slot would have been a more likely call.

But no instead Clichy went for former City teammate, Joleon Lescott.

Yes, really.

Though a regular in City's fist title win in 2012, Lescott has never been considered amongst the best centre-backs around.

Indeed, the 33-year-old now plays for bottom-placed Aston Villa - a team who have won just two games all season.

With 26 England caps, Lescott is no mug, but even he may be surprised to be chosen ahead of Kompany and co.

Who would you have expected Clichy to pick over Lescott? Give us your opinion in the comment box below!
