Liverpool have already made an enquiry for Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, according to the Mirror.

The report claims that the Foxes, who currently sit at the summit of the Premier League table, have told the Merseyside outfit that their current No.1 won't be sold during the January transfer window.

However, the report goes on to claim that Liverpool will put pressure on Leicester to sell the shot-stopper at the end of the season.

Liverpool, of course, have long had their problems in the goalkeeping department. Simon Mignolet, who is the club's current No.1 has only just signed a new deal with the club but has failed to produce the goods on a consistent basis.

Adam Bogdan, meanwhile, has also endured a torrid time on Merseyside - he made costly errors against the likes of Watford and Exeter City - so it's not entirely surprising that Klopp is looking to add to his options between the sticks.

Transfer battle

Schmeichel, who is the son of Manchester United legend Peter, appears to be on Liverpool's radar, but it won't be easy for the club to secure his signature.

Manchester United have also been credited with interest in Schmeichel, who has been in sublime form throughout the course of the season.

For the time being, though, surely Schmeichel's only focus will be on making history with Leicester.
