Real Betis fan attempts to spit on Cristiano Ronaldo

He's never been everyone's cup of tea.

However, one football fan took things to too far on Sunday, by appearing to spit on Cristiano Ronaldo during Real Madrid's frustrating 1-1 draw with Real Betis.

During what was a sobering night for all associated with Los Blancos, one fan took his abuse beyond the standards chants when Ronaldo aimed to retrieve the ball from under the home supporters.

In manager Zinedine Zidane's first away game since succeeding Rafa Benitez earlier this month, Madrid were held to a point, enabling league leaders Barcelona to move four points ahead with a game in hand.

The La Liga title increasingly seems Barcelona's to lose and on the back of their two-window transfer ban, January has proved to be a frustrating month for Madrid. 

This, coupled with Lionel Messi winning his fifth Ballon d'Or earlier this month, has visibly had its effect on Ronaldo - just last week he was fortunate to escape punishment for kicking out at an opponent against Sporting Gijon.

The 30-year-old's future looks increasingly uncertain and gestures like this certainly won't help.
