Liverpool are monitoring exciting Marseille midfielder Georges-Kevin N’Koudou, according to The Sun.

The report claims that the Merseyside outfit could land the 20-year-old for a fee in the region of £15 million.

N’Koudou has enjoyed a fine season in France - he has scored eight goals and assisted on four occasions in all competitions - so it's not entirely surprising that German coach Jurgen Klopp is looking at the possibility of bringing him to Anfield.

Despite Marseille's disappointing campaign - the club currently sit in eighth position in Ligue 1 - N’Koudou has gone from strength-to-strength.

As well as Liverpool, the dynamic wide-man has also attracted interest from the Premier League duo of Manchester United and West Ham United.

Understandably, then, it's not going to be easy for Liverpool to get their man, but they certainly appear to be ready to battle for his signature.

Liverpool in need

But do they need him? The Reds have actually looked quite strong in attack; however, they have flattered to deceive in defence for far too long.

Liverpool's 5-4 victory against Premier League strugglers Norwich City just about sums the club up right now, so the Anfield hierarchy should probably focus on improving their erratic back-line.

But you can hardly blame them for taking a look at an exciting youngster; there is clearly a long-term plan in place on Merseyside.
