Arsenal insert recall clause into Mathieu Debuchy's Aston Villa deal

Published Add your comment

It appears Mathieu Debuchy will be joining Aston Villa after all, with a loan move now well in the bowels of the transfer pipeline. The latest is that Arsenal have agreed on a recall clause that will allow them to take the Frenchman back before the end of the season if Arsene Wenger so wishes. Bayer Leverkusen are closely monitoring the situation with intent to sign him if they can, so it looks as though Debuchy’s Gunners career is effectively over. Not a terrible thing in our opinion, but Wenger is going to need to sign someone else in his stead. Now, former Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood has branded Diego Costa a serial cheat who got Per Mertesacker sent off with a blatant dive at the weekend. Wenger refused to accuse Costa of anything during his post-match presser - it would appear, though, that not everyone agrees with him.
