New Day member Xavier Woods was Chris Jericho's guest on the 'Talk is Jericho' podcast this week.

Woods, one-third of the current WWE tag team champions, revealed that he actually had something of a rivalry with fellow superstar Cody Rhodes when they were both at high school.

Rhodes and Woods attended rival high schools growing up and the young Xavier - real name Austin Watson - only decided to take up wrestling in order to try and impress Cody's legendary father, Dusty Rhodes.

"I was 160 [pounds] at the time. I think he was wrestling at 180 [pounds], maybe," Woods revealed, via Wrestling Inc. "And my thought was, 'okay, I'm going to wrestle up two weight classes and then I'm going to beat him and Dusty [Rhodes]'s is going to be there because Dusty would be at the matches and Dusty's going to say, 'oh, you're the best! I'm going to train you and make you the best wrestler ever."

It was actually going really well for Woods, as he won several tournament matches before getting to wrestle Rhodes - who beat him.

"And so, I beat four guys on my team to get the varsity spot that year. And then I beat three guys in the tournament to get to Cody. And then, we wrestled, he beat me 2 - 1 and I was real upset."

Things didn't get better for Woods, who went on to reveal that Rhodes also tried to mug him off in front of a girl that Xavier had a thing for. Oh, the woes of teenagers.

Thankfully, Rhodes and Woods get on really well now - with Rhodes even appearing on the UpUpDwnDwn channel that the New Day man runs on YouTube.
