Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp met with the agent of Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka over a potential transfer back in December.

This has been reported by Bild, who claim that the Reds chief is looking at the 23-year-old ahead of next season.

Xhaka is primarily a defensive midfielder and has established himself as a key man for Monchengladbach, racking up almost 100 appearances in the Bundesliga.

Aggressive, strong and tenacious, the dynamic star certainly has the attributes to succeed in the Premier League, so it will be interesting to see whether Klopp and co. step up their interest in him over the coming months.

Bild certainly expect the Liverpool hierarchy to make their move for Xhaka, who has a release clause of €30 million in his contract.

If the report is to be believed, and Klopp has already met with Andy Gross - the agent of Xhaka - then it appears that the Liverpool boss is serious about bringing the talented midfielder to Anfield.
