Last night's game between the Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers was the last time the Mavs would visit the Staples Center with Kobe Bryant part of the host's roster.

Whilst the Black Mamba wasn't on the court for the occasion, he did share a special moment with one of his fellow veterans after what proved to be the game's deciding shot.

With Dirk Nowitzki having made a pull-up jumper with two seconds left on the clock, he stumbled back towards the disappointed Lakers bench. There, he was met by Kobe who offered a show of respect to his long-time rival. Scroll down this article to see it for yourselves.

Having shared the NBA hardwood for 17 years, and enjoyed numerous duals over the period, it is great to see Bryant's respect for his veteran peer on show for everyone to see.

And Nowitzki repaid the compliment in the aftermath of the Mavericks' 92-90 win on Tuesday night, telling reporters:

"(Kobe) is our Michael Jordan for my generation. He's one of the best to lace them up & it's been an honor to compete against him."

Bryant, meanwhile, who missed the game due to soreness in his right shoulder, perhaps summed up his respect for Nowitzki best by admitting in it will be the big German's trash talking ability that he'll miss the most.

All told, it has been fun to watch the two future Hall of Famers go at it over the years and it looks like they both enjoyed it too.
