Angel di Maria scored another wonder goal for Paris Saint-Germain last night, to make Louis van Gaal’s decision to sell him last summer seem that little bit more absurd.
But there was one moment in PSG’s 2-0 win over Toulouse that might have raised a wry smile on the Manchester United manager’s face.
Di Maria produced a serious contender for worst shot of the season. No, really. His left-footed effort went flying out for a throw-in and left Toulouse further up the pitch because the shot somehow ended up going behind the Argentina international. (You need to see it to believe it, so scroll down this page to the video).

Di Maria’s woeful effort occurred in the opening minutes of the match; he was clearly just getting himself warmed up.
The 27-year-old made amends in style during the second half, drifting past several Toulouse players before unleashing an unstoppable drive into the top-right hand corner from the edge of the box.

Di Maria is back to his best
Di Maria, following his dismal campaign at Old Trafford, has rediscovered his form and confidence in Paris. He now looks the same world-class player we saw tearing it about at Real Madrid before his £59.7 million move to Old Trafford in the summer of 2014.
United fans only saw fleeting glimpses of Di Maria at his best. They will remember his magnificent chip at Leicester City’s King Power Stadium but little else positive.
Who knows: perhaps it would have worked out for Di Maria had United had a different manager.
Although at times it was difficult not to feel that Di Maria would have preferred a move to the Parc des Princes, rather than Old Trafford, in the first place.
