After enduring a year filled with injuries to Superstars and Divas alike, 2016 hasn't exactly gotten off to the best of the starts for the WWE either.

John Cena and Sin Cara have already joined a host of other sidelined Superstars this year, and it appears to have just gotten even worse.

That's after Sheamus upload an image to his Twitter account indicating he has suffered what looks like a fairly serious injury to his arm.

At the time of writing, there is little information regarding the injury beyond the former Heavyweight Champion's tweet which, as you can see, shows his left arm in a cast.

As for the 'celebrations' the Celtic Warrior is referring to in his Tweet, it is worth noting that it is Sheamus' 38th birthday today. It certainly looks like things got a little out of hand whatever the reason.

Sheamus wasn't part of WWE's tapings on Tuesday, although there is no indication as of yet as to whether this was simply a scheduled night off or due to the injury.

Regardless, the WWE hierarchy will be hoping their Superstar isn't too seriously hurt. Although Sheamus' role has been reduced since he lost the title on the post-TLC Raw, he has still played a key part in the recently introduced League of Nations faction.

Simply put, though, the WWE can't continue to lose wrestlers to injury. They are running out of stars to put in the ring.
