Manchester United might have had a chance of signing Robert Lewandowski this summer, had they not snubbed the Polish striker back in 2012. A line from The Independent this morning claims that the Red Devils had agreed a deal in principle with Borussia Dortmund at the time, but chose to pursue Robin van Persie instead. Lewandowski then signed for Bayern, but he’s now looking to move to another league. It’s Real Madrid - we know, in spite of their transfer ban - who are frontrunners to profit from that - United could certainly do with Lewandowski’s prowess at the moment. Now, those still bemoaning the loss of Javier Hernandez, things could be about to get worse. The Mexican is a supposed transfer target of Liverpool’s - a move to Merseyside would certainly ruffle a few Old Trafford feathers.
