Chicago Bulls beat Lakers in Gasol/Bryant reunion

It was an emotional return to the Staples Center for Pau Gasol last night as the Chicago Bulls topped the LA Lakers 114-91. As expected the bulk of the attention was on Gasol’s reunion with Kobe Bryant, with the latter singing the former’s praises in highlighting their special partnership of old. If there was any extra motivation for the Lakers to trump the Bulls however it wasn’t on show. The ever-impressive Jimmy Butler bagged 26 points as his side went 26 for 9 with the win. The Lakers remain rock-bottom in the west. Meanwhile, the Indiana Pacers left it late to beat the Atlanta Hawks 111-92. Indiana relied on a big finish to overcome their opponents - dominating the fourth quarter to ensure home fans weren’t left disappointed.
