Chelsea fans have seen a number of big names depart Stamford Bridge in recent years.

Legendary striker Didier Drogba has come and gone (twice) while the Blues faithful have also had to watch on as Frank Lampard and Petr Cech have played for their rivals.

Lampard, of course, spent last season at Manchester City but is now plying his trade at US outfit New York City.

Cech, though, is still proving his credentials at rivals Arsenal; in fact, since leaving west London for north London, the shot-stopper has been one of the success stories of the season.

But fear not, Chelsea fans; the aforementioned trio could all return to the club. The Times, in their report about a potential new contract for captain John Terry, have also revealed that Drogba, Lampard and Cech all have open invitations to return.

Chelsea return

The trio are still playing the game, but there could yet be an opportunity for them to return to their beloved club.

Chelsea fans may well have had to endure Cech and Lampard at rival teams, but the majority of them would welcome the players back without a second thought.

It remains to be seen as to whether the Chelsea legends take up coaching roles upon their retirement, but clearly the Blues hierarchy would consider employing their former stars once again.

Drogba, of course, was recently linked with a return to Chelsea, but he opted to continue his playing career at Montreal Impact. For now, the Stamford Bridge faithful will have to wait patiently.
