Patrick Roberts may have only made one Premier League appearance for Manchester City, but he looks set for a big future in the game.

The talented English youngster, who has represented the Three Lions at youth level, is reportedly closing in on a move to Scottish champions Celtic.

In fact, BBC Sport claim that the winger will complete a medical and sign an 18-month loan deal with the club this weekend.

Roberts, 18, departed Championship outfit Fulham in favour of a move to the Citizens in the summer but has failed to break into the first-team under the guidance of Manuel Pellegrini.

The wide-man still hasn't started a game for the Premier League giants but has made three appearances in all competitions from the bench.

But it's clear for all to see that Roberts could become a top, top player over the coming years.

Twitter reaction

Unsurprisingly, then, Celtic fans are very pleased ahead of the expected deal. They have quickly taken to Twitter to express their delight at the prospect of the youngster playing for the club over the next 18 months.

In truth, they can't quite believe that it is set to happen.
