As is the norm in the 21st century, Twitter reacted with amazement to the news. As expected as it was, the story being announced now is quite a shock given the potential for it to disrupt the City camp.

There’s also the possibility that City face Bayern in the Champions League.

After winning three La Liga titles, two Champions League titles and two Bundesliga titles since 2009, City fans are naturally buzzing at the news of Guardiola’s arrival.

City’s gain is the rest of the Premier League’s loss. Fans of other teams are fully expecting Guardiola to build something of a dynasty at the Sky Blues.

The appointment completes the power shift in Manchester. Manchester United haven’t come close to competing with their neighbours in years and, as they continue to languish under Louis van Gaal, City are embarking on a period that promises great success.

City can now attract the greatest manager in the modern era while United are stuck with Van Gaal. United fans were quick to voice their anger.

United fans are pleading for executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward to appoint Guardiola’s enemy from his Barcelona days.

It would be thrilling if Guardiola and Mourinho faced off in the battle of Manchester. And Pellegrini? Well, one fan expects him to stick around.
