Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher was in attendance as AC Milan secured an emphatic 3-0 win over rivals Inter Milan on Sunday evening.

Carragher, who tweeted a picture of himself alongside Milan's legendary defender Franco Baresi, was even handed the opportunity to watch Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli take to the pitch.

Balotelli underwent surgery on a groin injury back in November but managed to secure some playing time during his side's comfortable win.

The striker's introduction, then, handed Carragher the perfect opportunity to send a rather amusing tweet.

Just moments after coming on, the enigmatic striker picked up a yellow card. Carragher probably wasn't surprised but couldn't resist taking to social media.

Liverpool problems

It's surely unlikely that Balotelli has a long-term future at Liverpool. The manager may well have changed on Merseyside - Jurgen Klopp replaced Brendan Rodgers in the dugout earlier on this season - but it would be a risk for the club to hand the former Manchester City man a shot at redemption.

But Liverpool clearly need to change their dynamic in attack. Daniel Sturridge just hasn't been able to maintain his fitness for far too long while Christian Benteke has failed to settle into life on Merseyside.

Belgium international Divock Origi is still learning the game while Danny Ings will be determined to recover from an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
