Memphis Depay responds to article on Twitter

Dutchman Memphis Depay may well have been involved in one of the biggest transfers during last summer's transfer window, but things were all fairly quiet for him on this occasion. 

In fact, it has all been a little too quiet for United's number seven recently. Depay has failed to prove his credentials in Manchester - he has only scored two goals in 17 Premier League games this season - but the Old Trafford faithful remain hopeful that he can turn things around in the immediate future. 

Depay, then, was spotted out and about on transfer deadline day. In fact, the Daily Mail opted to give us all an insight into the youngster's shopping trip.

We're not going to bore you with what he purchased - nobody really cares - but it's safe to say that the player's response to the article on social media is far more entertaining. 

Indeed, the former PSV winger took to Twitter to post a message alongside the article, stating: "The most important news of the past transfer deadline, lucky me."

Tricky under LVG 

What exactly is going wrong for Depay at Manchester United? It's certainly clear that he's struggling to express himself under manager Louis van Gaal. 

Depay, much like Argentine international Angel di Maria last season, just hasn't been handed the license to roam free at the Theatre of Dreams. 

Unfortunately for Depay and United fans, Van Gaal's philosophy just doesn't suit quick, exciting forward players. Something clearly has to change.
