Brazil legend Ronaldinho believes his compatriot Neymar can become the world's best player at Barcelona.

Ronaldinho, who previously starred for the Catalans, has dismissed the notion that Neymar could complete a controversial switch to rivals Real Madrid.

Neymar's long-term future in the game has been the subject of debate recently, but Ronaldinho believes the dynamic forward already plays for the best team in the world.

"I don't think Neymar will join Real Madrid," he told El Mundo Deportivo.

"I hope he will become the best player in the world. He is hugely talented and plays for the best club in the world.

"I think he has what it takes to become the best."

Where is he right now?

Ronaldinho is probably right; Neymar certainly has the credentials to become the world's best player and appears to be going from strength-to-strength in the game.

Neymar really has been in remarkable form at Camp Nou - he has scored 16 goals in 18 La Liga games so far this season - but it would be wrong to place him in the same bracket as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo at this stage.

Messi and Ronaldo are still way out on their own. The duo, who were placed at number one and two at this year's Ballon d'Or ceremony, may well be ageing, but they are far from finished.

Neymar's time will come, but he will have to stay patient and work hard over the coming months and years as he goes in search of becoming the very best in the game. Surely he will remain at Barcelona; why would he jeopardise a career that appears to be going so well?

When will Neymar win the Ballon d'Or? Have your say below!
